Beekeeping Educator Training
Course 2 of the BCHPA Beekeeping Instructors Programme
This in-person training equips experienced beekeepers with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively teach and mentor others in beekeeping. Participants will learn instructional techniques, curriculum development, best practices for educating beginners while fostering a safe and engaging learning environment, and will be provided with an Integrated Resource Package to help them being their teaching journey.

What’s Included
Morning Session

Final written exam at the end of day (1.5 hours allotted for exam)
Prerequisites
In order to complete the second course in The BCHPA Beekeeping Instructors Programme potential participants must meet the following requirements:
Are current members of the BCHPA (visit this page for more information on how to become a member of the BCHPA).
Completed the Instructors Preparation course with a minimum 70% grade on the exam, or completed an acceptable equivalent (contact us to see if your program qualifies).
Have a minimum experience of 5 years beekeeping with an operation of 10 or more hives.
Preference will be given to people who are engaged in the industry through community outreach such as helping with bee club workshops, local club executive positions, published articles in the BeesCene or other related publications.
Assessment
Knowledge will be assessed through a written exam at the end of the course. Participants must obtain a grade of 70% or higher to be awarded their BC Beekeeping Instructors Certificate.

Tuition is a one-time fee of $275
We aim to offer this in-person training in the spring and the fall to coincide with the BCHPA’s Semi-Annual and Annual General Meetings and Education days. However, course dates depend on BCHPA educator availability and number of course participants. To be notified when enrolment is open, sign up for our mailing list.

All proceeds generated from our courses are reinvested into the BC Honey Producers’ Association supporting further research initiatives aimed at supporting beekeepers across BC.

The tuition is $275. The money goes directly to the BC Honey Producers’ Association and Technology Transfer Program for investment in further courses and programs to support honey producers in BC.

The course is administered in-person over the course of 2 days, both 8 hour days with breaks for lunch.

Yes, potential participants must meet the following prerequisites:
